ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Iris Cholula, and I am an educator and tutor. I have been in education for over 20 years and have taught a variety of subjects including life skills, literacy, choir, math, comprehension, Spanish and ESL. I have experience working in classrooms, with small groups and one-on-one. Over the last 10 years I have worked with clients who have been diagnosed with having dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD among other diagnoses.
My journey in education started over 20 years ago when I was in AmeriCorps teaching life skills and literacy in the Oakland Unified School District. I loved it and instantly knew I would spend my career in education! I have taught choir, led the after school program at the Sacramento Children's Home, and worked with students on math, comprehension, Spanish and literacy.
I recently taught an ESL conversation class for adults in my community and discovered a new passion. The response has been overwhelming, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this volunteer work. My favorite part of being an educator is seeing my student's confidence and skill set grow and knowing that I had a part in it. It is so rewarding, and I look forward to making that difference in your life.
